This is Santiam... Absolutely Natural!
We have grown to love the Santiam Canyon area and we know that once you explore, you will as well. With all the things to do; hiking up Monument Peak or Bachelor Mountain, kayaking on either the Santiam River or the north fork tributary of the Santiam River, mountain biking in the new Shellburg Falls trails, fishing for some Salmon or Trout in the Santiam River, or even just taking a leisurely bike ride around the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, its just a great place to visit!
While your here make sure to stop by and grab some food at a local eatery - no chain restaurants around here!
There are also some great bed and breakfasts on the North Fork of the Santiam River near Elkhorn community as well as in the city of Detroit
From hiking to kayaking you can do that in the Santiam area. Get on your horse and ride up the Monumment Peak ridge or kayak the famous Spencer Hole near outside of Gates. You can also though on some hiking or biking shoes and take on the trails at Shellburg Falls State Park outside of Lyons. In Mill City, some great fishing holes holding stealhead trout and chinook salmon await your bait.
Don't miss making your way up to Detroit Lake! Fish, boat, and swim with Mt. Jefferson looming in the background. After a long day swiming and fishing travel a little up north to the community of Breitenbush and soak in some acient natural hot springs.

There are Bed and Breakfasts and cabins tucked away in the foothills of the Cascade mountains. How about losing those bars on your cell phones for your overnight stay? There are also hotels and lodges along the main corridor. The choice is yours. We know its tough!
I would go check out Shellburg Falls! They just recieved a bunch of attention in the new article by Williamette Live.
