Highlights of our current projects:

  • Microenterprise Classes and Workshops
    • Free business development classes and training to our area business leaders to prepare them for this new economy.


  • GROW North Santiam
    • Free, confidential business consulting available to canyon residents -- from Aumsville/Scio to Detroit/Idanha (123+ people served)

    • Open to anyone who wants to launch a business or has an enterprise they would like to improve or expand in this area (dozens of businesses and 75+ jobs created since October 2008)

    • Access to the brainpower of a 50+ member resource board that offers connections and advice to local entrepreneurs and organizations (52% of clients want to open a brand new business)

    • Uses the proven bottom-up, grass roots economic development model for small business created by the Sirolli Institute (80% business success rate worldwide)


  • Employment Assistance
    • Resume writing assistance (over 25 helped) and mock-interview assistance (over 5 helped).

    • Free assistance and internet access for job searchers.

    • Connecting local job seekers to local job opportunities.


  • Buy Local Shop Santiam Campaign
    • Connecting our business community together with unification of Santiam identity.

    • Helping drive consumers to local businesses so our area continues to grow.


  • Individual Development Account Program (IDA)
    • Assisting local businesses with purchasing much needed expensive assets.

    • Teaching local business owners on proper financial literacy and saving habits.


  • North Santiam Trail System
    • Working with local agencies to develop a trail system linking Lyons to Idanha following Hwy 22.

    • Researching to develop the Monument Peak trail system.

    • Promoting the tourism potential of the area through this trail system.

We also fiscally sponsor the Mill City Community Garden.
