Canyon Journeys Project Update

The Oregon Parks Commission approved the application. It will be forwarded to the Federal Highway Administration for environmental review.

January 8^th, 2008 – The grant application to the Recreational Trails Program has been submitted. We expect to hear notification of the presentation schedule by the end of February.

November 7, 2007 – Representatives of the NSCEDC, Marion County Parks and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department met to discuss the potential trail segments to propose for funding through the Recreational Trails Program. It was concluded to focus efforts on proposing the design and construction of trail on state-owned property between Packsaddle and Niagara Parks. The application is due January 7^th, 2008.

October 26, 2007 - The NSCEDC is submitting a letter of intent to apply for a RTP grant in partnership with Marion County. The letter of intent is due November 1^st; the full grant application is due January 7^th, 2008. The grant would cover the costs of design and construction of a trail segment. A reconnaissance meeting will be held in early November with representatives of the NSCEDC, Marion County and State Parks to specifically identify the proposed segment, design and construction costs.
