GROW the Small Business Resource
GROW is a locally-driven program that offers free, confidential, one-on-one business coaching to any entrepreneur in the North Santiam Canyon area that wants to open, expand or improve a business. It follows the unique Enterprise Facilitation model which has proven itself successful in similar areas worldwide: 80% of the businesses that follow this model remain in business after four years. Now that’s sustainability!
GROW also offers classes and guided round table discussions! Topics include using Quick Books, website development, effective business management, business teambuilding and marketing strategies.
Imagine walking from Lyons to Idanha without setting a foot on Hwy 22. Sound impossible? Well it's not! Public support has driven the development of a canyon-wide trail system aimed to provide a safer multi-use non-motorized travel alternative to State Highway 22, connecting the Canyon communities and the outstanding natural, recreational and cultural features. Interest in this trail system has been kept alive by the project's potential to improve community quality of life, increase recreation and heritage opportunities, and promote economic growth and diversity.
The NSCEDC is proud to support this project through fiscal sponsorship. The Mill City Gardens is approaching its third year and it is anticipated that once again some folks of Mill City will be down with hoe and rake to put in the labor that brings home nourishing fresh vegetables. Chances are they will stop nurturing their plants occasionally and look east, beyond the canyon, to take in the beauty of the Cascade Range. In no other garden do bean stalks and their cultivators have such a spectacular view!
